Glade Runner – Idaho’s ONLY Mountain Coaster
Bogus Basin is home to the only mountain coaster in the state of Idaho. Experience 4,330 feet of high speed, twisting and turning, screaming and cheering through the woods! Just east of the Simplot Lodge, guests (driver and passenger) are seated in a mountain coaster cart, pulled to the top of the track, then released at the top for an exhilarating ride through the trees. You are in control of your own speed and by pressing the handles all the way forward, you unleash The Glade Runner’s full potential!
Scenic Chairlift Rides
This ascension up Morning Star or Deer Point Chairlift will bring you breathtaking views of Boise National Forest, the Sawtooth Mountains, and Downtown Boise all without having to leave your chair! Open to hikers, mountain bikers, and sightseers – however you choose to get down is up to you…
No snow? Well, you can still go tubing! Feel the wind in your face as you fly down the lower section of the bowl towards the base area. Race side-by-side or solo down the two 300 foot lanes.
Shafer Butte Mining Company
Dig deep into the history of Bogus Basin, where swindlers used to manufacture gold and pawn it off to the unsuspecting shop owners in Boise. Bogus Basin got its name in the early 1860’s from these gold swindlers. Purchase your pay dirt at the Simplot Lodge ticket window, then take a stab at striking gold or finding gems, arrowheads, and fossils in the Shafer Butte Mining Company sluice. A great activity for all ages.
Enjoy the cooler mountain temperatures, choosing from dozens of lush trails to hike along. Whether you need a break from the city, or you are having a family outing, Bogus Basin is a wonderful place to experience nature.
Enjoy a challenging game of disc golf at our course on Bitterroot. The courses are FREE for public use!
- Bring your own discs/frisbees
- The course is open sunrise to sunset.
- Please help protect the environment and pack-in/pack-out your water, food, and garbage.
The trails around Bogus Basin are accessible for horses as well as people and bikes. We have miles of cool, well-marked trails that can be accessed from our parking lot at the Simplot Lodge base area or the Pioneer Lodge! Please watch for trail signage that designates trails as biking or hiking only. Please respect other users if you choose to access the trails with animals and park so as to share the parking lot with everyone.
